Description

Hexahydrate of cobalt (II) chloride is the hydrated form of cobalt chloride. It is employed as a catalyst in a number of organic processes, including condensation reactions, chemoselective reduction of carboxylic esters, and the acetylation and tosylation of alcohols.

Applications

When an inorganic base is present, different aldoximes can be changed into their corresponding nitriles using cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate. In addition, to prepare PVDF/CoCl2 organic-inorganic nanofiber composites for the synthesis of pure hydrogen from NaBH4. In order to create nickel-cobalt based binary metal phosphide (NiCoP) hollow spheres for electrocatalysis and energy storage (supercapacitor) applications, it can also be utilized as a cobalt precursor.
