Holmium oxide is used in glass manufacturing. It is used as a colorant in glass and cubic zirconia. It gives sharp optical absorption peaks in the spectral
range of 200-900 nm when added to glass. It is used as a calibration standard for optical spectrophotometers. It is also used as a catalyst and as a laser material.
