Aluminum Sulfate Octadecahydrate (Al2H36O30S3), Purity: > 99%
Description
Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate (Al2(SO4)3.18H2O) is a hydrated aluminum salt. It is used as a catalyst and cross-linker during chemical reactions. For applications suitable with sulfates, aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate is a somewhat soluble aluminum source in both water and acid. Sulfate compounds are salts or esters of sulfuric acid that are created when a metal is added in place of one or both hydrogen atoms. In contrast to fluorides and oxides, which are typically insoluble, the majority of metal sulfate compounds are easily soluble in water for applications like water treatment. For applications like solar and fuel cells, metallic ions can also be deposited using sputtering targets and evaporation materials, and dispersed using suspended or coated nanoparticles.
Applications
Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate is also used as a coagulating agent/flocculating agent in the purification of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. It is also used in the paper industry for sizing. One of its most common usage areas is that it can be used as a cathode material especially for developing secondary batteries.
