Carbon Nanotube-Mica Prepared by Electrostatic Adsorption
CNTs: 15 wt%; Mica: 85 wt%
Carbon Nanotube–Mica composites prepared by electrostatic adsorption combine the superior electrical conductivity and mechanical resilience of CNTs with mica’s layered silicate structure, chemical stability, and corrosion resistance. The negatively charged mica surface interacts with surfactant-treated CNTs to form a uniform and stable hybrid complex that is easy to disperse and exhibits low resistivity (<5 Ω·cm). This synergy provides enhanced mechanical strength, static conductivity, and long-term durability, making CNT–Mica hybrids suitable for advanced coatings, industrial reinforcement, and multifunctional applications across energy, petrochemical, and protective material sectors.

Applications
- Energy & Storage: CNT–Mica hybrids are used in conductive composites and coatings for energy systems, where CNTs provide electron pathways and mica enhances thermal stability and mechanical durability, supporting reliable performance in demanding environments.
- Electronics & Coatings: They are applied in antistatic and conductive coatings for petrochemical and coal industries, combining CNT conductivity with mica’s insulating and corrosion-resistant properties to deliver protective and functional layers for industrial equipment.
- Structural & Industrial: CNT–Mica composites improve hardness, tensile strength, and elastic modulus in polymer and ceramic matrices, making them suitable for construction, aerospace, and automotive applications where lightweight reinforcement and chemical resistance are critical.
- Environmental & Protective: Thanks to mica’s stability and CNTs’ conductivity, these hybrids are used in protective coatings against corrosion, environmental degradation, and mechanical wear, ensuring long-term durability in harsh industrial conditions.
