Triton X-100 Surfactant

Description

In biochemical applications, Triton X-100 is a popular non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier that is used to solubilize powders and proteins. It is widely reported in references as a frequently added reagent and is thought to be a relatively mild detergent that is non-denaturing. It is used to lyse cells to extract cellular organelles and proteins. The living cell membrane can also be permeable so that transfection can occur.
